Okay, Obviously I've not gotten back into the swing of this yet. I had a great visit with some folks from out of town today here at the pottery and I totally failed to take a photo! Snap. Oh, well. I promise to do better next time. (I say that a lot).
In the studio. Super catch up day. Getting trays fettled and slipped.
Also got some handles on a couple pitchers and tankards.
And threw the tops on some other pitchers. I shot a video of that but you'll have to wait till I get it all sorted out then I'll post it up. Patience Grasshopper.
Oh and that vase is getting shaped too.
So something I have noticed, and that I am working on, is that some of my pots need some encouragement in the form department. I tend to sort of throw from the gut, I'm not really a strict, tight, skin and bones potter. (I don't know what that means either). I don't know how to explain it, but what I saw today in a few pots were lines and edges that gave the pots some, POW, or Umph, or structure that excited me. I'm mainly interested in pots with feeling and movement and gesture. But I think I need to pay attention to some details that can accentuate all all that a bit more. Yeah, that's what I'm trying to say. So that was awesome to see and I'll try to take a couple photos tomorrow to give you some examples.
Hang in there for the video and I'll catch ya later. Cheers ~Ron
