Day 3

I went to bed last night w. a mild headache.  Not sure if that was related to this detox or not.  I couldn't get to sleep and ended up tossing and turning for a while.  That's not totally un-normal though.

Anyway, Day 3 Breakfast.  Scrambled eggs with sausage.  Sautéed spinach and guacamole. Coffee.

I went to CrossFit at 11:30 am.  After that I had to go to the grocery again and then home. I felt a bit woozy at CF.  My pal Caroline said she was feeling lackadaisical.  That sounded about right for me too.

Lunch:  Once home I had left over Mexican soup from last night and more guac.  And a clementine. (Oh my darling...)

It was pretty filling and held me for most of the afternoon.  I had 2 cups of hot tea and a 1/2 of a Larabar around 4:30.  The cherry pie Larabar is kind of tart and not really that great, but I can't have my usual dark chocolate so it had to do.

The day in the studio was productive.  Made a dozen mugs and finished up some of the pots from yesterday.  I've got 3 places to send pots off to next week so I gotta kick it in gear over the weekend.

Dinner:  I had found this curry recipe on Pinterest last week and was looking forward to making it.  I hardly ever buy shrimp unless we are at the beach so this was a different meal for me to cook at home.  (We usually just eat salmon if I'm making seafood, or fish tacos with cod).  Anyhow, here's my prep.  I only used shrimp, omitting the talipia called for in the recipe.  Talipia sometimes tastes like mud to me.  I'd have used cod instead.

I do all the cooking at home most of the time.  Putting this together was no problem.  I can see how the Whole 30 would be a challenge for those not used to cooking though.  It's a hell of a lot of work.

This was a good dinner and I'd recommend it if you want to have something a bit different.  I did have to order the coconut creme concentrate from Amazon.  Here's the link. CLICK

I also made some cauliflower 'rice' to go along with the curry.  It was okay. Not my favorite thing but a good stand in.  Here's the recipe. CLICK  I used 1/2 a head of cauliflower and that was plenty for me and Sarah with leftovers.  Don't use a whole head unless you want a huge amount of this leftover 'rice'.

I missed going to Dragon Fly wine to the wine tasting tonight.  That's our usual Friday outing.  And then to Pleasant City with friends for beer and food.  Oh well.

Still missing my glass of milk here at bed time.  Maybe I'll make a cup of chamomile tea or something.

  1. Ron - is almond milk permitted on your detox? The vanilla with less calories (i.e., less sugar) is pretty good. Might be a tolerable substitute for your bed time glass of milk.

  2. No. Most boxed almond milk has carrageenan in it. If I made my own I could have it. I think I'm transitioning to herbal tea. Thanks for the suggestion though. We do usually have unsweetened, vanilla milk in our smoothies and protein shakes. Not this month though. Cheers.

  3. Thanks Ron, I learned something today - caused me to read this link

on why carrageenan should not be in diet. Homemade almond milk should be ok.

  4. FYI - Silk brand almond milk is carrageenan free. It contains the following ingredients:

INGREDIENTS: Almondmilk (Filtered Water, Almonds), Sea Salt, Natural Flavor, Locust Bean Gum, Sunflower Lecithin, Gellan Gum.
